Yarn Bases

Picking the right base is one of the most important jobs of any yarn dyer. I have chosen only those bases that I would want to knit and wear. Each base, named after a genre of books, is selected to give you the best finished product.

Fingering Weight Bases

Classic Sock
4ply, 75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon
463 yards, 100 grams
Best for socks. Super smooth and soft, but also strong enough to trust on your feet.

Memoir Fingering
4ply, 100% Superwash Merino
438 yards, 100 grams
Wonderful squish and very springy. Such a pleasure to knit with for sweaters, shawls, hats, and so on.

Sci-fi Sparkle Sock
2ply, 75% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon/5% Gold Stellina
438 yards, 100 grams
The beautiful gold glitter in this base gives that bit of extra zing for your special projects. Stellina isn't scratchy at all on your skin which makes it a great option for any project. Over time, with heavy washing, the stellina can lose it's shine.

DK Weight Bases

Classic DK
4ply, 75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon
245 yards, 100 grams
Just like Classic Sock, this standard base has strength to be flexible for lots of projects. Strong for DK socks with a smooth and soft hand.

Worsted Weight Bases

Memoir Worsted
4ply, 100% Superwash Merino
218 yards, 100 grams
The perfect standard for sweaters and more. Produces a great, cuddly fabric.

Lace Weight Bases

All the halo you can dream of, with the softness that can be next to your skin. This base is a dream to work with, and is especially great when held along with another one of our bases.

Romance Cloud
74% brushed suri alpaca/ 26% silk
328 yards, 50 grams
The softest yarn ever! Such a dream, this base has a little less halo than the mohair but even more cuddly-goodness!
